This tiny deer is the smallest deer species in the world, Pudú, weighs only 450 grams and measures 15 cms. He was born on May 12 at the Queens Zoo, New York, where they are caring him 24/7, soon he will start eating leaves, carrots, corn and hay.
Pudú are the two subspecies of South American deer and are world’s smallest deers. The other is northern pudú found in Colombia, Educador and Peru. Currently they are listed as endangered by IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
