Gwalior, 10 January 2015: Newly elected Mayor Vivek Shejwalkar and councillors took the oath to work as new city government. The development of the city is a responsibility of Municipal council and take city to new heights, if everyone does their job honestly Gwalior will make several records on global counter. These words were expressed by Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar as the chief guest on the swearer-in ceremony. On this occasion, the newly elected Mayor Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar and councillors got constitutional oath by District Collector P. Narahari.
The grand ceremony was held at Phool Bagh, in-front of Rani Lakshmi Bai Samadhi, to providethe elegance and dignity to the event, Industry and commerce minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia, Cabinet Minister of Women and Child Development Maya Singh, Minister of State Lal Singh Arya, MP Anoop Mishra, Bhagirath Prasad, Newly elected mayor Vivek Shejwalkar and his wife Neelima Shejwalkar, pervious mayor Sameeksha Gupta, MLA Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya, Narayan Singh Kushwaha, Bharat Singh Kushwaha, Ghanshyam Pironiya, General poor commission president Balendu Shukla, Moderator Brijendra Singh Jadon, BJP Vice-president Ved Prakash Sharma, District President Abhay Chaudhary, Dharampuri wale dadaji Ramesh Lalji Maharaj, Former Mayor Dr. Raghunathrav Paprikar, Bharat Bhushan Bhargav, Divisional Commissioner K.K. Khare, IG Adarsh Katiyar, Collector P. Narahari, SSP Santosh Kumar Singh, Senior IAS Dr. Pawan Sharma and several dignitaries were present.
On the occassion, newly elected mayor Vivek Shejwalkar said that its the second time citizens have made belief in me, I was given the responsiblity of the mayor’s office for which I am highly grateful to the citizens. In the past 10 years under the leadership of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Gwalior city has grown quickly, in past 5 years beauty of Gwalior has transformed which didn’t happened in past 50 years. For which pervious mayor Sameeksha Gupta is eligible to congratulate.
Municipal Corporation’s annual diary was also released by the guests. It is filled with details of newly elected mayor and councillors, municipal’s development information, telephone numbers of municipal corporation’s key executives, annual calender, railway timetable and much more.
After the swearing-in ceremony Mayor Vivek Shejwalkar took charge at mayor office in Jal Vihar. On this occasion, previous mayor Sameeksha Gupta presented municipal act to mayor Vivek Shejwalkar. Municipal Commissioner Ajay Gupta welcomed new mayor with bouquet of flowers.
