New Delhi, 12 March 2015: Toyota’s world renowned sedan – Corolla Altis, has been awarded as ‘Executive Sedan of the Year’ by the Car India and Bike India Awards 2015 that took place in Mumbai today. The car globally known for its QDR – Quality, Durability and Reliability, was recognized for its fusion of design innovation and its time-tested and trusted quality engineering.
On accepting the award N Raja, Director and Senior Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “We are currently in the 11th generation of the car in India. The Corolla Altis sets a new benchmark with a revolutionary design, making it the worlds most loved car since 1966. Launched in 1966, the Corolla Altis has entered into its 49th year. With its rich legacy to its credit, the Corolla Altis is the World’s most favorite car and the No 1 selling sedan with more than 41 million customers across the world. Commenting on the Corolla’s rich global heritage and the phenomenal success throughout the world, N. Raja added, “It takes 9 million cars to cover the earth’s circumference once and if we were to stack all Corolla cars sold globally then we would have taken 4 rounds of the circumference of the earth and still have 5 million cars remaining”.
The Corolla Altis sets a new benchmark of a premium vehicle having an ideal package of premium image, luxurious features and competitive pricing. In India, the new Corolla Altis has achieved a market share of 53% in the C segment since its launch last year which makes it the highest selling car in its segment. It also enjoys being the favorite car amongst C segment buyers and also attracts customers from other segments.
Currently, the Corolla Altis is manufactured in 16 production bases and sold in 154 countries and regions around the world.
