Pune, 11 April 2015: Over the years IPL have seen some sensational catches being taken but if there was a prize for the best tag-team effort in fielding it would have to go to Tim Southee and Karun Nair of Rajasthan Royals for what they did on Friday. Royals were defending 162/7 versus Kings XI Punjab at Maharashtra Cricket Association Cricket Stadium in Pune. George Bailey side needed 32 of 7 deliveries.
Bailey had hit James Faulkner for a six in the penultimate over and was Pubjab’s last hope. However, when he went for another big hit of Faulkner of the last ball of 19th over he didn’t expected the spectacular collaboration between Tim Southee Karun Nair on the boundary.
Southee pulled the ball that was flying over the boundary rope and flung it back to keep it in play. Nair stuck out a hand and the ball went straight into his outstretched hand. The result was one of the most incredible pieces of fielding ever seen on a cricket pitch. RR won by 26 runs.
The commentators were literally shouting into their microphones. Nair was the one who was credited with the catch because he completed it.
