Person with disabilities are very much recognized and are taken sincerely by Gwalior District Collector Parikipandla Narahari, therefore he developed a vision for a barrier-free Gwalior for such people. He started this project under the name, “Nirbadha – Barrier Free Environment”, in which he succeeded and made Gwalior 95 per cent barrier-free. He first audited the public places and inspired every officer to introduce ramps and railings in the infrastructure.

Narahari gave seminars to officials associated to railway, bus stand, bank, school, hospital, hotel etc. and instructed them to make these places barrier-free. He also released show-cause notice to people who didn’t believed to follow this project.

This effort of P. Narahari got the eye of Aamir Khan Productions led “Satyamev Jayate” and regarded this project an example for whole nation. The story of Gwalior barrier-free environment was telecasted on the episode six of “Satyamev Jayate” on Star Plus under the title, “Accessible Gwalior”. Episode was aired on January 26, 2013.
