New Year’s Eve has always been a time to look back at the year gone by and more importantly to anticipate the coming year. It’s a time to reflect on the changes we want or need to make in our lives. Here are some quotes from the big guns of Gwalior for 2013.
Being the mayor of the city I don’t take Gwalior as a city I take it as my home and like any homemaker I am working my heart out to make my home more greener and unique. My New Year resolution is to make the city reach newer heights, for that I have planned few schemes like Green Gwalior clean Gwalior, to promote the heritage of the city, to provide good infrastructure which consists of excellent road for transportation, proper drinking water facility for the citizens and many more such schemes. In the importance of women empowerment among the people and making the city as good as any metro city of India. This can only be possible if people of the city join hands together as without the support of the people it’s impossible for any city to improve its standing.
-Sameeksha Gupta, Mayor
My New Year Resolution will be to serve people of the city as much as I can and to make the city safe and secure for its citizen. If the city is safe and sound then only police can have a breather as it’s our first and foremost priority. With strict vigil and careful planning we aim at making the year 2013 safe for not only the women but also senior citizens of the city. We look forward to a time where women can walk unafraid at anytime of the day. We have been working hard to achieve our goal and for the same we are also trying to rope in some local bodies and NGOs. On the same, efforts would be needed from all sections of the society. We need to understand that this is a problem which affects one and all. And the need of the hour is to have some collective measures.
-UC Sarangi, IG
The New Year brings with it a fresh and energetic feeling which spreads positive vibes in the atmosphere. It is the time to start a new inning on a fresh note. For 2013 my first resolution is to start implementing my plans which I have thought in a more appropriate way. I will be focusing on two agendas first security for all citizens of the city and second participation and cooperation of all the citizens in order to make city safer and secure as police alone cant do anything, police needs the support of citizens in order to maintain peaceful atmosphere.
-Dr. GK Pathak, SP Gwalior
New Year resolution for me is to promote Gwalior as a tourism hub. The city with its rich heritage and culture can satiate all travel needs for the tourists. All that is needed is to promote the city with greater enthusiasm and make it more tourist friendly, and this is precisely what I want to achieve in the coming year.
-Bidisha Mukherjee, Joint Collector
This New Year I want to make the city of Gwalior more greener and healthier. With the advancement of technology we are entering a new world which is highly tech savvy and advanced but it’s very important that we don’t neglect nature and should do everything to maintain it. A clean and green city will not only attract more tourists but also ensure that its residents remain energized with a healthy body and mind. For this both the residents and the authorities should come together.
-Ved Prakash, Commissioner of Municipal Corporation
