The US President, Mr. Barack Obama inspecting the Guard of Honou

New Delhi, 25 January 2015: Firstly US President, Barack Obama inspected the Guard of Honour, at the ceremonial reception, at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He was led by Wing Commander Puja Thakur who then became the first Indian woman officer ever to lead a tri-service guard of honour for a visiting dignitary.

Secondly, President Obama paid floral tributes and laid wreath at Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi, at Rajghat. There Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal presented him a bust and memento. President Obama also planted a sapling at Rajghat.

Thirdly, he met PM Modi in the luncheon meeting. There PM Modi presented him a reproduction of telegram sent by USA to the Indian Constituent Assembly in 1946.
