Gwalior, 26 January 2015: The 65th anniversary of the glorious Republic Day was celebrated in Gwalior with enthusiasm and grandeur. The main function of the district was held on SAF Ground located at Kampoo where State Commerce and Industry Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia unfurled the national flag at 9 am and took the salute of the parade. Scindia felicitated freedom fighters and relatives of Kargil war martyrs with shawl and coconut. School children presented colourful cultural programmes and physical exercises. Attractive tableaux highlighting government schemes were also taken out. She was accompanied by collector P. Narahari and SSP Santosh Kumar Singh while inspecting the parade in open gypsy.
On the occasion of Republic Day, Yashodhara Raje Scindia participated in the tasty feast organized by Government school of Adupura village. She had the meal with kids at the newly constructed dining hall. On the auspicious occasion of the Republic Day, in the mid-day meal of Government school kheer, puri, halva and other desserts were made.
Divisional Commissioner K.K. Khare at Moti Mahal and Collector P. Narahari at Collectorate hoisted the flag. At information centre of divisional public relations office, additional director Dr. H.L. Chaudhary hoisted the flag.
Border Security Force Academy of Tekanpur hoisted the flag on the 66th Republic Day with various events. On this occasion, Dr. A.P. Maheshwari, IPS, Director of Academy laid wreath and paid homage to the martyrs and the took the salute after hoisting the national flag. In his address he said BSF has played a key role during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The BSF officers and security personnels contribution in border security and internal security is commendable.
District Congress Committee chairman Dr. Darshan Singh took the morning rally from Congress building which passed through statue of Rani Lakshmibai, Mahatma Gandhi, B. R. Ambedkar, Lal Bahadur Shastri, to Madhavrao Scindia where garland was presented. Dr. Darshan hoisted the Indian flag at Congress office.
Mayor at Late Narayankrishna Shejwalkar administrative building and moderator at council office hoisted the flag. On the occasion of Republic Day Mayor Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar hoisted the flag at Late Narayankrishna Shejwalkar administrative building at town hall. At the event, Municipal Commissioner Ajay Gupta, Additional Commissioner R. K. Shrivastava, Fire Brigade officers and other officials were present. Moderator of the Municipal Rakesh Mahor hoisted the flag at council office.
