Staying at home on 2011 and 2012 Indian GP, the 2013 happened to be a live experience of Airtel Indian Grand Prix as Vicky Chandhok, president of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India has warned everyone that “If race doesn’t come back in 2015, it may never come back at all.” As race at 5.125 km Buddh International Circuit has been left off for 2014 schedule.
Before reaching to the stands we were welcomed by the Vrooom of Audi RS5, seems to be a good luck by then. Getting inside the Main Grandstand access gate there were the stalls for food and merchandise of Ferrari, Mercedes AMG, McLaren Mercedes and Red Bull Racing, less collection as compared to last year though. After seeing the Rolex watch at the gate it was the time for the mighty race to begin.
All cars lined up behind the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT which is the Formula 1 safety car and the back there is the best sounding emergency vehicle, The Mercedes C63 AMG Station Wagon. After one lap SLS and C63 were parked beside the pit lane and the 642 kg F1 cars were ready to floor it. Remind you that S Vettel has mastered the Circuit with a lap record of 1:27:249 back in 2011.
Green was the signal and Sebastian Vettel made it on the first backed up by Fernando Alonso. And frankly speaking one cannot make out sitting at stands who is the leader as soon the race gets started. 362 kmph capable cars were doing the lap as fast as possible and fans are just shouting to support their teams as soon their car passes by!
Ferrari fans were in the larger numbers as compared to the Red Bull fans, doesn’t matter Force 1 fans can be counted easily! The sound of these 2,400 cc V8 aspirated engines is so loud that you need to put on those small orange noise-cancelling headphones which are provided for free at the access gate. Its necessary otherwise you may loose your hearing capacity after listening to that 307.259 km distance race.
With the full use of that 738 hp and 400 Nm torque Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull Racing won their fourth consecutive Formula One World Championship at Buddh Circuit with a mind blowing 29 second advantage thanks to those 7-Speed Semi-automatic paddle shift Sport gearbox. “To join people like Prost, Fangio and Michael is unbelievable,” said Sebastian. “I think this is one of the best days in my life so far. There are so many people that I have to thank but one of them is Infiniti. Infiniti’s increased involvement this year has helped support my efforts too so I’m glad I can reward them with another World Championship. It’s been a busy year for me, developing Infiniti’s road cars, and as our relationship is continuing to grow this is a key moment I’m glad we can all share”, he added further.
Rs. 21.3 lac fine for Vettel! Ya thats true, just after crossing the chequered flag Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel made some crazy donuts to keep the fans nutty but that touched the guys at FIA and slapped him a fine of €25,000 (Rs. 21.3 lacs). “The stewards, having received a report from the race director, heard from the driver and the team representative, examined video/audio evidence, have considered the following matter, and determine a breach of the regulations has been committed,” FIA said in a statement. But still it was worth it!
