In order to promote her book Lean In, Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg met United States Navy officials. She visited National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency in Washington D.C where she met Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Jonathan William “Jon” Greenert, Vice Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Michelle Janine Howard and Superintendent of the United States Naval Academy Vice Admiral Walter E. “Ted” Carter Jr. and manye Navy Flag Officers.
After the visit Sheryl Sandberg wrote, ” I am grateful to have had the chance to spend time with you discussing leadership. It was truly inspiring to see how committed you are to building an inclusive and diverse Navy.
And I got to check something off my bucket list by meeting Admiral Michelle Howard, the first woman to earn a 4-star rank in the U.S. Navy. Admiral Howard and our other female Navy leaders are powerful proof to girls and women everywhere that they can be anything they want to be.
My gratitude to these amazing leaders for their current and future service to our nation – and for inspiring me.”
