Huge military rally co-conference organized by Gwalior Army (7)

Gwalior, 21 February 2015: Sacrificing their best time of life for the defence of the country ex-servicemen and their dependants, Indian Army is determined towards their welfare. Problem of ex-servicemen from employment to health, pension and governance will be solved in a strategic manner. These were the words of General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Indian Army’s Southern Command, Lt Gen Ashok Singh while addressing a huge ex-servicemen rally cum conference.

This rally as organized jointly by Gwalior Army Headquarters, State-servicemen Welfare Board and Headquarters 36 Infantry Division at Baj Stadium located at Morar Cantt in which around 6,000 ex-servicemen and their families took part from Gwalior, Bhind, Murena, Datia, Sheopur and Shivpuri.

Lt Gen Ashok Singh, while addressing the military conference said that soon one rank one pension will be applied in army. This will be a big benefit for ex-servicemen. He also said ex-servicemen whose son is correct in physical parameters, the army will give them priority in recruitment. Along with ex-servicemen and their dependants who are seeking other types of jobs will be given training and funding through the bank. Singh said there are 11 states included in Southern Command. 60 ex-servicemen cell are working in Southern Command to solve the problems of former soldiers. Even in Gwalior Cantt Area one cell is working for the welfare of ex-servicemen.

On this occasion Lieutenant general R.B. Kanitkar, Retired Lieutenant general V.K. Sharma, Major general Anup Kumar B and Brigadier S.V. Panwar were present along with other senior officials.

At the event, 150 widows of brave solders were honoured. 3 brave ex-servicemen who were injured during defence and internal security of country and has been unable to walk were awarded mobility Honda Activa scooters. Welfare information was given to the troops and their families. Health camp was also organized in which treatment of eye, dental, therapy, swine flu and other were operated in separate OPD. Financing action was taken by the counters of various government departments and banks for employment. Performance of cultural programs, army band and adventure sports were also performed.
