Gwalior, 11 January 2015: 110 years old Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Gwalior Trade Fair or Gwalior Vyapar Mela represents the cultural diversity of India. Special display of folk dance and music performances also takes place in trade fair facilitation centre. This time trade fair started from 16 December 2014 and will last till 16 January 2015. These 31 days Mela Mahotsav ecompasses the technology as well as art and craft of each state.
Organised by Gwalior Trade Fair Authority (GTFA), a nodal agency of Government of Madhya Pradesh is basically held to showcase the excellence achieved by our country in the diverse field.
GTFA have extensive infrastructure. Spanning over 104 acres (416 bighas) of land. Trade fair ground or GTFA have 5000 shops, pavilion and large display land which makes it easy for the business to showcase their business, talent and expertise.
Since its setup in 1904, Gwalior Trade Fair has shown immense popularity not only amongst traders, businessman, entrepreneurs and companies in India but also with multi national companies. The state of export facilitation centre also adds extra appeal for the trades and promoters to participate in the fair.
People from all over India throng to this place in order to view and purchase versatile range of products available in the trade fair with special prices. During this trade fair, estimated sales of Rs. 650 crores takes place and approximately over 200 lakh people visits this fair.
Its like a festive time during trade fair time for the real business activities. Every kith and kin have buying orientation. This attracts the customers from adjoining districts of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Harayana & Delhi. Visitors also arrive from different parts of the country. Gandhi Shilp Bazar (Handicraft Fair): GTFA have special earmarked campus, which is a real bonanza for craftspersons. Here they display and showcase their skills ad techniques of manufacturing world class handicrafts, they also exhibit and trade these items. You can pick handicrafts from every state whether it is Assam or Orissa, Manipur or Kashmir at the shilp bazar. Special subsidy is offered to them for participation. Lots of art lovers visit, appreciate and purchase various creative items. Space at shilp bazar is allotted in groups.
State level farmer and cattle fair: This fair is being organized before the trade fair for one week. Its a real blessing for the farming community. The get lots of information on the latest techniques/methods relating to hybrid seed sowing, pesticides and germination etc. Special zone is created by GTFA where trading of cattle such as cow, buffalo, horse, camels, goats etc takes place. Various competitions are organized to create competitiveness and awareness among farming community. This cattle fair is over 110 years old tradition. Dog show is also organized at the end of cattle fair.
Wrestling/Dangal competition: GTFA in order to promote interest of rural youth in traditional skill based wrestling regularly organizes wrestling competitions, where many national & famous wrestlers participate and compete with each other to get various awards.
Trade fair also includes facilities like ambulance & medical dispensary, bank ATMs, business information centre, central control room, conference room, fire service station, general security in the fair, billboard sites, radio announcement for lost and found, parking lots at each entry, telefax facilities & video conferencing, press centre, restaurants, storage & warehouse, shuttle service from bada, morar & hazira covering railway station & bus station to fair, adequate facilities for physically challenged people.
