With 600 crores, Times Group to open Bennett University in Noida

India’s largest media house The Times Group is set to mark its presence in education sector with Bennett University. Company’s MD Vineet Jain and Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav has laid its foundation stone in Greater Noida.

Named after its flagship company Bennett, Coleman and Company Limited (BCCL), Bennett University will support Akhilesh’s dream to develop Noida as 24×7 Global City. The university will list its name along with other 50 private and state operated universities in Uttar Pradesh.

The university will be setup on an area of 68 acres which will offer courses in engineering, management and media. Rs. 600 crore will be infused to develop this university.

Vineet Jain, MD of the Times Group and a trustee of Bennett University also announced plans to set up an incubation centre at the university to support budding entrepreneurs. Bennett University has partnered with Babson Global, a wholly owned subsidiary of Babson College, Massachusetts, U.S., renowned globally for entrepreneurship programs. Bennett University will collaborate with Babson Global for curriculum and faculty development.

The 175 year old Times Group is known for the brands like The Times of India, Economic Times, Radio Mirchi, Times Now, ET Now and Magicbricks.com. The group has launched many initiatives like Teach India, Times Scholars and Newspapers in education.
